Last week, Sigma released their new 85mm f/1.4 lens designed for mirrorless cameras (Sony E mount and L mount cameras) and the reviews have already started pouring in and right of the back, the result are all the same; the Sigma lens is a much better lens than the Sony.
Jared Polin of FroKnowsPhoto does a detailed breakdown of both lenses, from weight to sharpness wide open and finally price and the Sigma emerges top in all categories including price (Sigma costs $1,199 while the Sony cost $1,799). One might say it’s because the Sony 85mm is older having come out over 5 years ago but that extra $600 could get you a little extra ‘stuff’.
