The Nigerian Civil war, commonly called the “Biafran war”, was a civil conflict fought between the Nigerian Federal forces and the secessionist state of Biafra, formed out of the then Eastern region . It was a gruesome conflict which witnessed horrible carnage and numerous civilian death, mainly due to starvation and disease. It was fought between (6 July 1967 – 15 January 1970).
