The last couple years have been ridiculous over on the smartphone camera universe with more phone adopting the multiple camera layout on their devices.
Samsung Galaxy Phones mostly come with a standard quad camera layout and most recently the Xiaomi Note 10 Pro comes with a five camera layout (one of them has an insane 108 Mega Pixel) and more than ever, its now possible to create compelling, striking images with your phone.
Most Recently though, Mobile Phone manufacturers OnePlus teamed up with Race Car makers McLauren to release a concept phone that would be great for Cinematographers. Called the “Concept One” the phone comes with something called “Disappearing Cameras”. Basically, the camera lenses which are buried under the surface of the phone disappear and reappear at the click of a button. The tech behind this is thanks to the use of “Electrochromic Glass” which can make a layered piece of glass go from looking almost solid black to being clear as day depending on how much current is run through it. This feature also has a very useful practical application too as the electrochromatic glass can be taken advantage of as a built-in ND filter.
The Design makes the phone look super smooth and takes away the protrusion caused by cameras on the back of the phone, meaning phone manufactures can include as many cameras as they like whilst still maintaining high levels of aesthetics.
