Smartphone cameras today have come a long way in terms of resolution and capability and more often than not, you find people judging cameras against smartphones (I use a Canon 6D and people have made passing remarks like “My phone camera has more megapixels than your camera” so I’m all too familiar with this sentiment) and this video does us the favor of putting this assertion to test to determine which is better.
On the smartphone side of things, there’s a $200 64 MP f/1.9 Poco X3 whilst on the camera side, there’s a 16 MP Olympus Pen E-PL7 coupled with a 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 kit lens, released originally in 2014 and costing around $200 now. Robin Wong decided to pair this combo to keep the price point the same, plus it’ll be quite unfair to compare said smartphone with current cameras due to the drastic improvement in sensor technology over the last couple of years.
Robin puts both technologies through various forms of testing and the results are quite interesting. Click below to find out.
