Young photographers and photography enthusiasts have often wondered what it means to capture a good image, the methodology, and the technical know-how to achieve a wonderful image. This article would open your eyes as a photographer to leverage ways to achieve this desired goal.
Aside from knowing the technical method which includes understanding the exposure triangle, composition, lighting, how to handle a camera, etc. there are also other things to consider to capture nice images as a photographer.
CHARACTERISTICS OF A GOOD IMAGE
- SELF EXPLANATORY : A good image doesn’t require the photographer to relate the concept or meaning of the image. It is self explanatory and relatable and the composition and concept must be easily understandable. If you have to explain your concept as a photographer your concept hasn’t worked.
- TELL A STORY : This is important for photographers in the following genres of photography; portrait, product, event/wedding and documentary photographers. You must allow your viewer to understand the concept that you are passing across by telling a story through your images. There is also a narrative sequence in good images that enables viewers to understand and feel connected to the image.
- FRAMING: it is important that photographers also keep the subject in frame even while exploring the rule of photography. The subject is the main character of the image and must also be in frame.
- CONVEY EMOTIONS: Another hallmark of a great image is that it provokes an emotional response in the viewer. Emotions such as anger, sympathy, etc. An image that can do this helps to create an impression in the viewer and as such is one quality of a good image.
