The aim of every photographer is to get better at the craft, learn new ideas and concept and make money while at it, and one of the many ways to achieve this aside YouTube tutorial videos is reading books, that would aid as guide to help improve your craft and creativity as a photographer.

The concept of photography is not only about capturing moments but also about conveying a message through those images. A deep understanding of the artistic and philosophical aspects of photography is a must if you want to create images with intent. Books are informative materials that help you improve your knowledge in different spheres and we have such books for photography also, which include:

  • “The Camera” by Ansel Adams: This book is a classic guide to photography, written by one of the well-known and respected photographers of all time. Adams goes into great detail about the technical aspects of photography, including the use of cameras, lenses, and film.

 

  • “Understanding Exposure” by Bryan Peterson: This book is a great resource for anyone looking to improve their understanding of exposure and the use of light in photography. Peterson explains the fundamentals of exposure and provides practical tips and techniques for getting the most out of your camera.

 

 

  • “On Photography” by Susan Sontag: This book is a collection of essays on photography by one of the most influential writers and cultural critics of the 20th century. Sontag explores the relationship between photography and art, politics, and society, and offers insights into the way we see and understand the world through images.

 

  • “The Photographer’s Eye” by John Szarkowski: This book is a classic text on the art of photography, written by the former director of photography at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Szarkowski explores the visual language of photography, and how photographers can use composition, form, and other elements to create powerful and memorable images.
  • ‘‘Behind The Scenes” by Aham Ibeleme: This book is not a traditional instructional or technical guide to photography but rather a visual journey through the eyes of a successful and highly regarded photographer. It offers inspiration, motivation and insights for anyone interested in pursuing a career in photography, as well as fans of Ibeleme’s work who want to learn more about his creative process and the stories behind some of his most iconic images.
