Being a creative is sometimes the equivalent to being unemployed because there’s no guaranty of a payday and well, that’s it, there’s no sugar coating this truth. It’s something most creatives have come to accept and so the tendency to start slacking is always more than present but even when you arrive, you get to the supposed top, there’s a host of other creatives out there delivering quality content and one small loose up could be what send you spiraling down years of hard work. So where does it end, where do you reach and say, “I’ve arrived, I need not worry anymore”
Sadly, there’s no finish-line, no glorified peak where no one can surpass you. There’s a start line, a beginners’ date but never a finish. This is mostly due to the fact that the creative process is ever fluid and changes are constantly sprung into the industry. Techniques are constantly being changed and a delay in adapting is equals to consent to being left behind. A Photographers Journey is no different, retouching techniques change, lighting styles are constantly updated and whilst a photographer can actively create a style for themselves, keeping up with the trends keeps you ahead and relevant and a relevant photographer is the one that gets paid ‘consistently’.
A Creatives journey is constantly changing and if you look back and don’t see some sort of change, some sort of improvement then you need to visit the drawing board to re-strategize because something definitely is wrong. The Creative journey isn’t the smoothest one but it sure is fun and life changing.
