Light quality and lighting are very important elements in photography. Understanding light quality and colour temperature of light is essential to creating successful images. The quality of light refers to the hardness and softness, while colour temperature refers to its warmth or coolness. They both play a role in the mood of a photo and the outcome of an image. Hard light creates harsh shadows and contrast, while soft light creates a more even diffused light.

Understanding the light quality is an important skill for photographers, and knowing how to work with the different light quality is also very important and how it can help create different moods and effects on images.
