Select the right gear for landscape photography: Unlike other genres of photography, you don’t need special equipment for this genre. However, to maximize the opportunity of capturing stunning landscape photography some basic essentials are needed, such as a camera of course, and a lens.

Camera: One might think you can shoot nature with any camera, even with a pocket camera; this is technically true, but there are better ways to get the shot right. A modern mirror-less DSLR camera is one of the best in shooting a quality landscape image. Some elements in landscape photography are achieved through the use of manual settings; cameras that can manually control individual functions is a key player in landscape photography. Being able to control shutter speed, exposure and ISO is key and the ability to switch camera manual focus is the basis for choosing any camera for landscape photography.

Lens: If you’re new to photography and only have a 50mm lens then shoot with that. Even if you’re a pro in the imaging industry with years of experience, don’t rush out for the best landscape lens. Shoot with what you already have.

Planning: Selecting the right gear is an essential tip for landscape photography after which is proper planning which is not peculiar to only landscape photography but all other genres of photography. Especially when shooting in the wild as a landscape photographer you should study the area to be captured and plan accordingly to achieve your desired goal.

Power and memory: The most important thing to remember is to bring enough power and memory when shooting landscape. Double-check that you have more than enough memory cards/film and batteries to cover what you expect to capture.
