The recently launched iPhone 14 has many outstanding features, one of which is the evolution of its front camera called the TRUEDEPTH Camera, which is in several other iPhone series too. The TrueDepth camera is the Iphone’s front camera technology that powers the phone’s FACES ID feature. The camera feature automatically adjusts settings like brightness and volume and is also used to create depth with Portrait mode.
TrueDepth works by projecting thousands of invisible dots onto the face of the user and analyzing your facial pattern with the help of a bionic chip that helps to create depth on the face. It also captures an infrared image on the face, which helps provide accurate face data. The TrueDepth feature also comes with autofocus and a larger aperture; this would also help compare the data with your enrolled facial data to confirm they match and unlock your phone.
One striking feature for me with the TrueDepth camera is its ability to adapt to changes in your appearance, such as make-up, glasses, face cap, facemasks, or hats, which will significantly help end users. Ultimately, users don’t need to take off what they have on their face to access their phone using the FACE ID.
The Emoji and Animoji features also leverage the TrueDepth camera system to mimic your movements and facial expressions in real-time, as does the camera’s Portrait mode when you use the front camera.
