Composition is the key to a great photograph. Composition in photography describes how the subjects are arranged, it gives enough details to the subject captured, and is the key to great photography. It is paramount in photography and all other forms of art. A good composition gives a good balance to your images, plus it helps guide the viewer’s eyes towards the most important elements of your work. In this article, I will be highlighting some useful tips for photo composition.
- Background: Keep some distance between your subject and the background more so keep away anything that can cause a distraction to the viewer’s eyes. In cases where everything looks clumsy and you can’t get that shot, try to change your shooting angle and look for a better position to get that shot and if there are any background distractions try to reduce your aperture to get a shallow depth of field to make your focus object come out.
- Framing: Always make sure your focus image is at the center of your frame to create space from both ends of your photograph depending on the angle you are shooting or the purpose of your shot.
- Rule of Third: Understanding the rule of third is the most basic rule in photography. This rule works by dividing your lines into nine equal parts in setting the vertical and horizontal lines. Make sure that your subject falls on the line or in between the lines.
- Understand Focus: You will be faced with the challenge of shooting in a noisy, busy, and distracting environment but once you understand the environment and the aim of your shot focusing on your target will become easy. In essence try as much as possible to have a focus solely on your main subject except otherwise.
