Have you ever tried to shoot and mysteriously find some grainy dirt on your photos? This happens to photographers who often change their camera lenses. While in that process, they attract dirt into their camera lens and sensor.
The camera manufacturers have included a sensor cleaning function in newer camera models. However, one common challenge is that sometimes the feature just isn’t enough, which is why cleaning the camera sensor is a painstaking chore that every photographer has to deal with every so often. Just in case you are not good at doing this, there are camera technicians who specialize in cleaning camera sensors and lenses.
TIPS FOR KEEPING YOUR CAMERA SENSOR CLEAN
- There are preventive measures you can follow to avoid dust getting into your sensor.
When changing lenses, make sure it’s done in a clean place where there’s still air. Always point the camera toward the ground, so the dust particles (if there are any) won’t land on your DSLR’s sensor.
- Avoid unnecessary changing of lenses. I know how difficult this sounds but we find ourselves in a dusty environment and we need to change our lens to get our desired shot. Also, make sure that the lens cap is clean before covering up your lens optics and this can be achieved by keeping the cap in a clean space.
- Make sure your camera’s bag is clean. Majority of the dust and dirt are from our bags because that’s where our camera resides. Try cleaning it once in a while to avoid dirt and dust buildup into the lens and sensor.
