A lot of times, you hear people say it’s not the gear that you’re using but the skill behind the gear (or something like that) and Parker Walbeck of Full Time Filmmakers decided to put this to the test by handing a $30,000 RED Cinema Camera to their new intern and an entry-level DSLR to a professional filmmaker -giving both an hour to create a short ad.
Right off the back, shooting with a RED gives you a couple of stops over an edge as regards shooting with a DSLR, much less an entry-level DSLR but the final results after post-production will amaze you.
The test simply goes to show that gear will only get you so far but experience will go a long way to make up for the inadequacies that might arise in various situations. Click below to watch the video;
