Do you recall the feeling you got when you took a picture for the first time, and all that was on your mind was to see it hung on your wall? Still fresh in my memory so much that in the days when we couldn’t view the images immediately, we had to wait patiently until the photographer used up all the 24 or 36 frames in the roll of film before he can send it to the lab for processing and printing before we can even see the finished photos which take like forever to get it done.
The photographers then will select the best pictures and would compile all of the prints in those albums that came together for free with the prints. The more artistic photographers will take more time to turn the prints into a photo album or scrapbook by adding some information or story in the album such as, where it was taken when it was taken, and what the occasion was.
REASONS WHY PRINT IS IMPORTANT
- It Becomes Our Memories: We all need something to fall back on that can remind us of fun times, and printed photos serve as a reference to the past. A printed photo becomes something we and our future kids can touch and look closely at. It could be displayed on the wall, on the desk, or inside an album. You don’t need to search through the various files, folders, and deep archives to find the images that you took years ago on the computer. It’s there! Printed and hung on the wall or compiled in an album for our viewing pleasure. There was a time my parents were making jest of me that I was crying repeatedly on my birthday, then they brought out some of the pictures and I burst out laughing after seeing myself crying.
- It Connects People To Places, Emotions, and Experience: Our emotions are attached to our pictures which bring back memories. The point of just looking at a photo brings us back to our old homes, our old playgrounds, our old treasured memory. Sometimes when we pause for a little while and just take a look around us, we get to see how far our families have come and remember how we first started out. It ties us back to our roots and our purposes in life. The little things that we see in a photo, like that favorite outfit, shoes, people, etc. remind us of even the atmosphere, feelings, and scents of that particular time in our lives.
- We Derive Strength: We are usually soaked with our purpose trying to get the best out of life. We forget what life looks like as we’re beclouded by so many works day in day out. We forget the important things that is why you have people put up photo frames on their walls and work table to remind them of who they are and reminisce on their journey.
