When a city stops imitating the world and begins to define it, Lagos is living that moment right now. And on the 23rd and 24th of May 2026, at The Podium in Lekki, Epic Fashion Week will be the most precise, most dazzling articulation of that truth that African fashion has ever put on a stage.

This is not a regional show. This is not a tributary flowing toward some distant ocean of European approval. This is the ocean itself, vast, self-generating, and unapologetically African. Fashions Finest Africa has spent years quietly building the scaffolding for this moment, and now the structure is complete, the lights are being rigged, and the city of Lagos is preparing to witness something extraordinary unfold under its electric sky. Africa does not need a seat at fashion’s table. She has always been the weaver of the cloth that covers the table.

What Fashions Finest Africa has constructed for Epic Fashion Week 2026 is not merely a schedule; it is a philosophy rendered in time slots. Over the course of two extraordinary days, the venue will pulse with panel sessions that challenge industry assumptions, fireside chats that trade polished talking points for raw creative honesty, and fashion shows that arrive not once, not twice, but three times each day, each one a distinct chapter in the story of what African design has become and where it is going.

Saturday opens at 11 AM, when the doors part and the Marketplace breathes to life alongside them. This is intentional. In most fashion weeks, commerce is a footnote, something that happens after the spectacle, in hushed hotel suites. At Epic Fashion Week, the Marketplace is an opening statement. It declares that African fashion is a living economy, not an art exhibition.

Fashion without photography is a song with no recording. The moment passes. The garment is folded. The model steps off the runway. And then if no extraordinary eye was present, if no skilled hand held the camera steady,  the moment is simply gone.

This is why the partnership between Epic Fashion Week 2026 and The Business of Photography matters so profoundly. Because what is being built at The Podium on May 23rd and 24th is not just a fashion event. It is a cultural archive. It is documentation of a pivotal chapter in African creative history. The images produced from these two days will appear in magazines, on brand decks, in documentary films, in gallery exhibitions, in the social feeds of millions of fashion lovers across the continent and beyond.

The Business of Photography understands something that separates exceptional creative studios from merely competent ones: that a photograph taken at the right moment, with the right understanding of what the moment means, is worth more than a thousand technically perfect images of nothing in particular. African fashion deserves that level of intentionality. Epic Fashion Week 2026 has found a partner that brings it.

The global fashion calendar, Paris, Milan, New York, and London, is not being threatened by what is happening in Lagos. It is being expanded. Those cities built their prestige across centuries of colonially-resourced wealth. Lagos is building its fashion authority in real time, with the urgency and originality that only comes from having everything to say and the confidence to say it loudly.

If you are a designer, come to be inspired and to be seen. If you are a buyer, come because the pieces you discover in that Marketplace will be the pieces your clients beg you for next season. Photographers come because moments like this deserve to be captured with intention. The energy, movement, emotion, and creative brilliance on display will offer endless opportunities to create powerful images and some of the most meaningful work of your career.. If you are a student of fashion, come because this is what a curriculum cannot teach you: the feeling of being present at the moment a scene announces itself to the world.

And if you simply love fashion, the weight of good fabric, the way a silhouette can make you feel something you cannot name, the particular thrill of watching a designer send their vision down a runway and watching a room collectively exhale, then come for that. Come for all of it.
