The number of photographers in Nigeria is increasing by the day. Photography is no longer a profession for dropouts or misfits. The industry reeks of artistic expressions that question humanity. It’s a field for open minded creatives using artistic approach. Every professional photographer started with little or no knowledge and they took out time to learn from other photographers.

Photographers no longer take images without an approach to what the image is about, it’s all about being intentional and foresight. Every image you see now by a photographer is intentional, telling an indepth story and showing the aesthetics in the images.

  1. BAYO OMOBORIOWO  A documentary photographer who started out during his university days going round the streets of lagos and Nigeria as a whole to document and tell beautiful stories of people, places and things. His work talks about moments that will strike a chord in you as human. Bayo Omoboriowo’s photography unfolds different cultures and people from different parts of Nigeria. His images will inspire you to visit these places, see their cultural identities and understand it. @bayoomoboriowo
  2. ANDREW ESIEBO  He is one of the amazing visual storytellers using his works to pass strong messages that connects to humanity. He captures scenes from everyday life in the urban landscape, exploring how personal narratives interact with wider social issues. Interrogating themes such as sexuality, football, gender politics and migration, his work blends the personal with the political. Esiebo’s work has been exhibited at Lagos Photo Festival, African Photography Encounters in Mali, and the Havana and Sao Paolo biennales. @andrewesiebo
  3. GEORGE OSODI   Geoge let’s his works tell the story, he is internationally recognized as a  photojournalist whose daring and honest storytelling works/images have changed the narrative of Nigerian photography.  After a long time away he returned to his home in the Niger Delta. Osodi spent four years capturing the environmental degradation of the region caused by multi-national oil firms. More recently, Osodi has turned his focus to the urgency of documenting and archiving traditional Nigerian culture. @gosodi
  4. AISHA AUGIE KUTA  She’s one of the flag bearers when it comes to female photographers in Nigeria and across Africa. Aisha Augie-Kuta won the Future Award for Creative Artist of the Year for her Faces of Africa portrait series in 2011, a collection of portraits of female faces elaborately painted to re-enact the vibrant patterns of the Surma Tribe of Ethiopia. She is based in Abuja and has a mixed-race, mixed-tribe experience. Her latest project offers viewers a glimpse of the unseen side of the Fulani mud huts in Abuja, which, from the outside, appears to blend into the landscape. @aishaak49
  5. KELECHI AMADI OBI       Well known for his magical creativity in creating aesthetic images, he is a creative photographer in Lagos. Kelechi Amadi-Obi is one of the most popular celebrity photographers in Nigeria. He holds a Law degree and was called to bar in 1993, however, his passion lies in full-time studio art.
