The ACB is a transformative program launched by Ascend Studios in collaboration with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). With a mission to empower 3,500 emerging and professional creatives across Nigeria, this initiative bridges skill gaps in the industry while driving job creation and economic growth.

The program will culminate in the production of a 13-episode TV drama, providing employment for over 200 full-time and part-time professionals. This presents an excellent opportunity for photographers and other creatives to participate in a high-profile project, gaining both experience and exposure.

Why It Matters for Photographers?

The business of photography is no longer limited to traditional shoots and prints. As a photographer, your skill set is increasingly vital in broader creative projects such as film, television, and digital storytelling. ACB offers training and mentorship in areas like cinematography, production design, and sound design, helping you diversify your expertise and build a network within the industry.

By participating, photographers can:

– Enhance their storytelling capabilities.

– Learn advanced techniques relevant to the film and TV industry.

– Collaborate with directors, producers, and other creatives.

– Position themselves for international opportunities.

Strategic Partnerships Driving Change?

ACB’s success is bolstered by partnerships with leading organizations like Venture Garden Group, Paramount Nigeria, and renowned music executive Ralph Simon. These collaborations aim to reshape Africa’s creative economy, ensuring Nigerian talent is competitive on a global stage.

Additionally, the U.S. government, through USAID, is committed to strengthening Nigeria’s Nollywood industry by supporting capacity building, mentorship, and economic empowerment for women and youth.

Training Locations

The program features both virtual and in-person training across six cities: Lagos, Abuja, Enugu, Kano, Benin, and Asaba. This hybrid approach ensures accessibility for participants across the country while providing opportunities for immersive learning.

Who Should Apply?

ACB is open to emerging and professional creatives, including:

– Cinematographers and editors

– Production designers and sound designers

– Directors, writers, and producers

– Actors and talent managers

– Costume designers and production coordinators

If you’re a photographer aiming to branch into cinematography or expand your storytelling toolkit, this program is for you.
