While one might consider this still relatively early in the year, there have been some great camera releases so far this year, with the Canon R5C and the Lumix GH6 being at the top of that list. But if anyone is looking to get into photography right now, below are the top 5 Top Tier cameras to entry-level cameras currently available in the market.
- Sony Alpha One (Sony a1)
The Sony a1 has been available for over a year now but it still without a doubt is the overall best camera that’s currently on the market. Keeping in line with Sony’s need to deliver on details, the camera features a 50 megapixel sensor that’s capable of 8K RAW video and shooting 30 images when on burst mode, the Sony a1 delivers outstandingly on its objective of simplicity whilst maintaining a rather relatively small package that we are used to being that it is mirrorless.
- Canon R3
The Canon R3 is CAnon’s flagship lineup and very much like the a=Sony a1, the R3 delivers splendid image quality with its 23 megapixel sensor (Canon is focused on speedy delivery on all their flagship cameras rather than extreme detail so the sensor sizes are kept below 30 megapixels). It has the best focusing system on any camera currently existing with extra focusing modes like eye tracking where the camera uses sensors to monitor the photographer’s eyes and focus on what he’s looking at. There’s also 8K video on the R3 and a big battery and built in grip so you’re rest assured your camera doesn’t die on you while you in the field.
- Nikon Zfc (Entry Level)
The Nikon Zfc is Nikon’s attempt at introducing photographers in the Nikon mirrorless ecosystem on a budget whilst maintaining finesse, grace and a youthful yet vintage vibe. The cameras are styled like vintage cameras from the mid-lates 90s and have an aesthetic that is matched by no manufacturer currently. The Zfc is an APS-C mirrorless camera with a 20 megapixel sensor that is capable of 4K video at 30fps. It is geared towards mostly content creators and vloggers and nails the aesthetics of the audience it targets to a teeth.
- Sony a7C (Entry Level Full Frame)
The Sony a7C is a little older on the list but old doesn’t mean an inability to deliver. The a7C features a 24 megapixel sensor that shoots great images and videos at 4K/30fps with the added advantage of in body image stabilization to compensate for when there’s no gimbal or what shooting at slower shutter speeds with no tripod. Starting at just above $2,000, the a7C is a deal for those looking for a camera that can deliver superb image quality whilst still being able to fit in your pocket.
- Sony a7S III (Videography/Cinematography)
The Sony a7s line up has always been geared towards filmmakers and with fairly decent photographic capabilities and if you’re someone who’s video’s first before images then I have no doubt that the a7s III is the best suited option for you. It has a sub 20 megapixel sensor (12 megapixels to be precise) which means while it might not take the most decent detail oriented pictures, it absolutely slaughters at the task of cinematography. Since the sensor is bigger with lesser pixels, more light is able to saturate the pixels which also makes this camera a force to reckon with in low light situations. The camera costs a little above $3,000 but the results are sure worth the cost and then more.
